What happens to our certification when the new safety standard arrives?

Q: With the upcoming standard ISO 45001 superseding AS/NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001, what will happen to the ‘ticks’ – as not all companies will have both certifications; most will have AS/NZS 4801 but not the other?

Will companies have to re-certify to the new standard as was the case of ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015?

A: ISO 45001 is expected to be published in December 2017 and will likely be adopted in the Australian Standards. If you wish to be certified under a particular standard, you will likely need to comply with the requirements of the standard; however, we cannot be certain until the standard is published in Australia.
