What are my health and safety obligations to workers working from home?
Q: I have a casual worker who will soon be working from home rather than the office. What are my health and safety obligations to this worker?
A: You need to ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that the worker’s home workplace is safe and without risks to health. This might involve having a consultant conduct a health and safety hazard inspection and provide a report to you about changes that need to be made. Alternatively, you could have the worker conduct their own inspection using a checklist you provide as part of your working from home policy.
