Road safety equipment supplier convicted for safety breaches

The Case

WorkSafe Victoria v Saferoads Pty Ltd (2024)

Saferoads designed, manufactured and supplied road safety equipment, including a product called 'iron man barriers', which are made of steel and weigh approximately 925 kilograms. To move these items, Saferoads engaged contract delivery drivers.

On 26 November 2021, a delivery truck driver arrived at the workplace in a flat top semi-trailer that was loaded with 24 iron man barriers. A worker employed by Saferoads assisted the driver to unload the barriers. As the driver released the load restraints on the vehicle, the Saferoads worker used a forklift to remove the barriers from the vehicle.
